"Abat-Jour" meaning "a device (such as a sloping soffit of a lintel or a movable screen) for deflecting daylight downward as it enters a window" .

The Monumental Lamp is designed by Cini Boeri for Arteluce in the 70's. Featuring a pyramidal marble base with an acrylic and metal oversized lamp shade which deflects the light downward in a soft and inviting way.

Cini Boeri  (19 June 1924 – 9 September 2020) was a female Italian architect and designer.  She designed showrooms and furniture for knoll (some of the sofas and chairs are still in production today) as well as lighting for Artemide and Arteluce. She also headed her own Architectural Practice after collaborating with Marco Zanuso from 1951 through 1963.
